He was admitted to AIIMS in June 2018 for the treatment of kidney tract infection, urinary tract infection, low urine output and chest congestion. Atal Bihari Vajpayee was an accomplished poet and an avid reader. Vajpayee served as Prime Minister of India thrice (1996, 1998 and 1999). His tenures lasted 13 days, 13 months and a near full five-year term when he went for early elections in 2004 respectively.
