India tops world with most Net shutdowns

The report compiled by Delhi-based Software Freedom Law Centre cited 121 instances of internet shutdown to date in 2018. Governments have shut down the internet purportedly to prevent riots, incidents of hate crime, even to prevent cheating in exams.
