Mumbai suburb Chembur gasps for breath

Once a leafy suburb dotted with bungalows, Chembur, the pride of eastern suburbs, has become congested, dirty and polluted. It has elected mayors, former ministers and politicians with clout, but the constituency has failed to benefit. It has been home to landmarks like R K Studios, Diamond Garden and Vivekananda’s Education Society.
