Seeking refund for bad pizza, student loses Rs 27k

Dissatisfied with a pizza, she looked up the customer care number of an online food delivery platform on a search engine for a refund. It did not go through, but soon she got a call back and did as the person advised. In a blink, three transactions over the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) left the 25-year-old IIT student poorer by Rs 27,000. Seecha Vajpayee had become the latest victim of a fraud that is becoming increasingly common in the city.
