No release from quarantine sans testing: BMC

In a bid to ramp up testing, civic authorities have decided to test high-risk contacts of Covid-19 patients in institutional quarantine centres before discharging them. Testing criteria for high-risk contacts in home quarantine have also been eased and they can now get tested through self-declaration. The move comes following a warning from the central government to optimise testing facilities. The BMC has been conducting around 5,000 tests daily, which are half its total capacity.
