Mumbai: Car registrations fall 22% short of 2019

Private car and SUV registrations in Mumbai this year are 22% short of last year’s number. Experts say this is not bad news as automobile sales were badly hit during the total lockdown months of April-June, but then picked up fast in the following months once unlocking started. They say the shortfall is due to the lockdown and not an indicator of slowing vehicle sales due to any other extraneous factors.
