Father Stan Swamy passes away in Mumbai hospital

The 84-year-old rights activist-priest Stan Swamy, who remained in custody since October 2020 in the Elgar Parishad case under an anti-terror law (UAPA) despite repeated pleas for bail on grounds of old age and poor health, died at a Mumbai hospital on Monday. The Bombay HC was scheduled to hear his bail plea at 11am on Tuesday.
