US health officials warn dairy workers of bird flu risk from cows, advise to wear protective gear

US health officials cautioned that dairy workers remain susceptible to contracting the H5N1 bird flu virus, which is circulating among dairy herds. In a letter to the New England Journal of Medicine authored by Tim Uyeki from the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and Texas health officials, workers were advised to utilize protective gear.
