Eyewitness: Cops opened fire on Suleman Bakery
Twenty-six years after a police firing at Suleman Bakery claimed eight lives, an eyewitness has told the trial court that police had entered a mosque and opened fire, and that people in an adjacent madrassa and the bakery died. The witness, now 68, is the seventh to depose in the trial, which commenced last year, but is the first eyewitness in the case. He could not, though, identify any of the accused present in court. “Today, I cannot identify the police officer who had opened fire, since the incident occurred many years back,” he said.
