Shift 3 to 5 cases to NCB, says Centre; Maha min objects

The Centre has written to the state police seeking transfer of three to five cases registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act to the NCB. The letter follows Union home minister Amit Shah’s recent suggestion that drug trafficking cases from different regions with inter-state/ international ramifications —where the main accused or the networks were suspected of operating outside their jurisdictions—be handed over to the central agency to unearth the entire network.
